Starting to Feel Better ~ Daily Log 2/20

I am still a little bit sick today, but I am feeling much better. Today is my first day of class in about 5 days (due to the holiday), and so I convinced myself to go to all of my classes and have a productive day.  Normally I take the bus to my 9:30am class because I'm usually still half asleep, but I decided to make an effort today and actually take my bike instead.  I'm hoping to continue to use my bike instead of the bus, but we will see how that goes. Something so small could probably make a big difference in the long run (I'm thinking of hiding my bus pass from myself hah).

I don't think I'm going to make it to the gym today because I have class, then meeting, then lab, then class, then another meeting, with less than an hour in between all of them, and the last ends at 7:30pm.  Plus, my throat is still sore and I have a bit of a cough, so I don't think it'd be a good idea anyways (or perhaps that's just the excuse I'm giving myself).  Regardless, I'm happy that I'll be using my bike today.

Breakfast

  • Liberte Peach Passionfruit Greek Yogurt
Lunch

Image for Southwestern Black Bean Salad
  • Hashbrowns with 1 Fried Egg, Tapatio, Sour Cream, & Black Bean Salsa (see recipe here)
    • I am obsessed with this Black Bean Salsa. I made it based off of a salsa I tried at a local restaurant, but my version is pretty much the same as the one in the link. This is great because its healthy, tasty, addicting, and packed with protein!
Snack
  • String Cheese
  • Liberte Blackberry Greek Yogurt
Dinner
  • Pasta with Broccoli, Mushrooms, Spinach, Zucchini, & Onion (small portion)
  • Tacos
Water Intake
  • 2 cups of coffee
  • 8 cups of water
"What Went Well" Exercise
1. I took my bike to my classes today instead of the bus.

  • Why did this happen? As I was getting ready to go, I decided I needed to stop being lazy and actually bike to class.  So I did, for both of the 2 times that I had to go to and from class. Overall, it came to about 20 minutes of biking (and I'd be huffing & puffing at the end of it).  So although I didn't do an actual workout, I am proud that I decided to make a change.

2. I got a "Shout Out" from a colleague of mine.

  • Why did this happen? My coworker (we work together as a team for my job) gave me appreciation for putting in initiative on something we both have been putting off. It was something easy to do, and his kind words really made my day.

3. I was able to go downtown with a good friend of mine and finally have some awesome tacos that I've been dying to try!

  • Why did this happen? Because we both took time out of our busy schedules to make it happen! And I'm so glad we did!
